A First Anniversary Message From Doc
On June 28th, we celebrated Soul 2 Soul’s first anniversary. It’s been a challenging time to launch a business, but I couldn’t be more proud of the work we’ve accomplished in just one year.
Anniversaries are usually a time to party. However, due to ongoing health and safety concerns, we’ll have to wait until 2021 for the celebration I was imagining. But even without a party, now is the perfect time to reflect on the past and plan for the future.
Looking back, I’m overjoyed to see the community we’ve built in our online workshops. Even though we can’t be together physically, we’ve created a space where diverse groups of people can come together to learn and love.
In our workshops, participants are empowered to ask questions, share their opinions, learn about others’ experiences and celebrate love in all its forms. Each session has brought me new insights, but the greatest lesson I’ve learned is that we all want the same things; to be seen, heard, included and valued.
I'm inspired by all the new relationships the past year has brought me. And I feel incredibly grateful for the enthusiastic support and warm wishes from our clients, family, friends, colleagues and collaborators.
I’d also like to extend a special thank you to our Board of Advisors (Sahar Andrade, Jonathon Aubry, Paul Holman and Elizabeth Scallon) for their invaluable advice and mentorship.
Going forward, I’ll continue to welcome both same-sex and heterosexual couples to my SYMBIS workshops, private couples sessions and parental coaching programs.
That being said, my main focus will be facilitating retreats for LGBTQ+ couples and families. I made the decision to specialize in the LGBTQ+ field for a few reasons. If you can believe it, Marriage Equality only became law five years ago. As such, there’s still a huge need for safe spaces where LGBTQ+ couples and families can explore and overcome their unique challenges.
In addition, Soul 2 Soul is one of the few companies specialized in providing these vital services. Because of this, my mentors and I are confident that we are well-positioned to become a leader in the field of LGBTQ+ couples and parenting retreats.
I’m excited about the year to come and I’m already looking forward to seeing you at our second anniversary celebration.
