While you are in the neighborhood, we advise you to visit some of Long Beach’s most beautiful and interesting attractions.

#7 Things to Do in Long Beach, California: Aquarium of the Pacific

The Aquarium of the Pacific prides itself on being a modern aquarium that is dedicated to the stewardship of the Pacific Ocean. Its popularity helped it to become the 4th most visited aquarium in the USA. It´s not surprising because it is home to over 100 exhibits, which includes a fantastic underwater viewing area of a coral reef, playful sea otters and a shark lagoon, is a fantastic way to relax and have fun.

In addition to exploring the aquarium, you can upgrade your visit with an animal encounter. There are three options available. Which one would you choose?

  1. Sharks and Rays

  2. Seals and Sea Lions

  3. Penguins

#6 Things to Do in Long Beach, California:

Explore the Pacific Ocean

If you want to gain some strong sea legs and get out on the ocean you could rent a yacht with a captain for the day. This is great for groups, perfect if you meet a few couples at the retreat. Or consider taking a sailing lesson at California’s oldest sailing club. They have classes for beginners, intermediate and advanced sailors, so everyone is welcome.

Alternatively, you can sit back and relax as you enjoy the Pacific Ocean on a Long Beach Harbor tour, which has 5 departure times, all on weekends. If you get lucky you could see some marine life, for example, whales and dolphins.

#5 Things to Do in Long Beach, California: Naples Canals

Take a romantic gondola ride, Italian style, through the Naples Canal, with The Gondola Getaway.  Not only will you get to see beautiful beach and ocean views as you pass under bridges, but you can also take a good look at the million-dollar homes that overlook the canal.

#4 Things to Do in Long Beach, California: Private Helicopter Tour

Anthelion Helicopters offer the El Capitan Tour. It´s a 55-minute private tour, that’s loops around the city balancing inner city and coastal sights. You´ll see at least 40 of LA’s iconic landmarks. Popular landmarks include the Hollywood Sign, Santa Monica Pier and Beverley Hills mansions.

The Shoreline Village is a fantastic place to visit for restaurants, shops and adventure. Top picks include:

Turn this Love Wins! Retreat into a memorable holiday for you and your loved one by adding a few extra days to your visit. Here are our final two activities we think you´ll enjoy together.

#2 Things to Do in Long Beach, California: Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden

Find your inner peace at the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden on the campus of California State University. The 1.3-acre garden, which opened in 1981, is both peaceful and educational.

This “living museum” creates a positive environment dedicated to Japan. Attractions include Japanese art, a pond of lively koi, a beautiful Tea House and of course a Zen Garden.

#1 Things to Do in Long Beach, California: The Queen Mary

The number one attraction, not to be missed, is the legendary British ocean liner The Queen Mary. Her maiden voyage took place in the Spring of 1936 until the ocean liner moored in Long Beach in 1967, her voyages were largely across the Atlantic Ocean.

Today, The Queen Mary is a hotel, dining experience and museum. A guided tour is the best way to learn about the ship’s history, which includes war adventure stories, royalty, romance and the paranormal. About 3 hours there will be enough to explore both inside and out of the luxury liner.

If you love ghost stories, the paranormal and all things that go bump in the night, stick around until the sun goes down. The Queen Mary at night has a few different events worth a try. The best one has to be Illusions of the Passed, presented by Magician Aiden Sinclair. You may have seen him on America Got Talent.

Other night-time experiences include:

  • Dining with the Spirits in the Sir Winston Restaurant

  • Paranormal Ship Walk, where you can make your own decision of whether it’s haunted after visiting the paranormal hotspots and hearing about the darker side of The Queen Mary.

  • Paranormal Investigations takes you to private parts of the ship, unavailable to the general public.

Those are our top picks for the Long Beach area, but if you have extra days explore the heart of Los Angeles. For ideas visit 7 things to do in Downtown LA.
